Questions
The things people ask before they call
If your question is not here, call (559) 614-4664. Asking costs nothing and takes less time than reading.
What is a mobile notary?
A commissioned notary public who travels to you instead of asking you to come to an office. The notarial act is identical to one performed at a bank or shipping store — the difference is only where it happens. That matters when the signer is in a hospital bed, a care facility, or simply cannot leave work.
How quickly can you get to me?
Travel time depends on where you are within Fresno and the Central Valley. Scheduled hours are 9am – 6pm, Monday to Friday. After hours and weekends by appointment only. Call (559) 614-4664 and you will get a realistic arrival window on the phone, not an optimistic one.
What do I need to have ready?
Three things. A valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID for every person signing. The document, complete but not yet signed. And every signer physically present at the same time and place — a notary cannot notarize a signature for someone who is not there.
What counts as valid identification?
Generally a current, unexpired, government-issued document bearing a photograph, a physical description, and the signer’s signature — a driver’s licence, state ID card, passport, or military ID. An expired ID is the single most common reason an appointment cannot be completed. Check the expiry date before you call.
Can you notarize a document I already signed?
Sometimes, but do not assume it. Some notarial acts require you to sign in the notary’s presence and cannot be performed on an already-signed page. Others allow you to acknowledge a signature you made earlier. Leave the document unsigned and let the notary tell you which act your document needs — an unsigned document can always be signed, but a wrongly signed one may have to be reprinted.
Can you come to a hospital or care facility?
Yes, and it is a routine part of this work. The signer must be conscious, aware of what they are signing, able to communicate that willingness directly to the notary, and able to produce valid ID. Sedation or an inability to communicate will stop a signing. Mention the facility when you call — some have their own access rules and it is better to know in advance.
What will it cost?
It depends on what you need — a single notarial act, a mobile call-out, an LLC filing and a tax return are not the same job, so there is no one figure worth posting. Call (559) 614-4664 and you will be given the total before anyone travels. It does not change afterwards, and you will not be surprised at the door.
Can you set up my LLC and get me an EIN?
We prepare and file the formation paperwork with the California Secretary of State at your direction, and apply for the federal EIN with the IRS — the two documents a bank asks for before it will open a business account. What we cannot do is advise you on which structure to choose; that is a question for an attorney or your CPA. Call (559) 614-4664 with what you have already decided and we will handle the filing.
What do I need for a Live Scan appointment?
Two things: the Request for Live Scan Service form from whoever is asking for your fingerprints — it carries the agency codes, and without it the prints cannot be submitted — and valid, unexpired photo identification. The requesting agency, not us, decides which checks are run and where the results go. Prints are submitted electronically to the California Department of Justice, and to the FBI where the request calls for it. We can come to you when a group or a shift pattern makes travelling to us impractical.
Do you prepare returns for corporations as well as individuals?
Yes — both, including prior-year and amended filings. We go through the return with you before anything is submitted, so you understand what was claimed and why. Call (559) 614-4664 and describe your situation; the price depends on the return, so you will be told the total rather than quoted a figure off a website.
Do you keep books through the year, or only at tax time?
Through the year, and that is the point of it. Monthly reconciliation and categorisation means filing season is a review rather than a reconstruction, and it is the difference between knowing what the year did and finding out in April. We work in your existing software where we can, so nothing has to be migrated to start.
Can you tell me how to fill out my document?
No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. A notary public verifies identity and witnesses signatures. Advising you on what a document should say, which form to use, or what it means for you is the practice of law, which requires an attorney. This is a limit set by law, not a reluctance to help.
Request a signing
Ask before you book
A two-minute call is better than a wasted appointment. If your document needs something we cannot do, we will tell you that rather than take the booking.
If it is urgent
Do not use the form. Calling is always faster, and the phone is answered during 9am – 6pm, monday to friday.
